1970 Yamaha DT-1 250CC
owner/current rider: Patrick Layshock
I’ve been living in the Pacific Northwest my whole life. I used to run around a lot in Washington.
For many years I sat in a Portland basement, all apart in crates and boxes. Back in 2005 a nice man named Steve put me back together. Steve and I and his friends used to go out to the Coast Range of Oregon and ride around in the mud and rain, it was a lot of fun! I may be simple and old but I still know how to get around.
In 2008 Patrick was broke and didn’t have a running bike so Steve sold me to him for a great price. Patrick fixed me up and got to know me real well. He gave me sticky tires and the perfect main jet and we did a track
day together the next year. We rode around all over the Pacific Northwest, then did a big trip to Tennessee in the summer of 2009, on the 555 Ride. A lot of people didn’t think I’d make it but I made it without any problems at all. It was hard work, but a blast. I sure was glad to see the “Welcome to Knoxville” sign!
When I got home Patrick put a new piston in me, took my lights off, and put me on the motocross track. Now
all I have to do is go out there, go fast, and win races! I can’t think of a better way to spend my golden
years. That is, unless the chance for more adventure pops up.
