The Litas: Celebrating 9 Years of Empowering Womxn in the Motorcycle Community

Founded in 2015, The Litas began as a simple invitation for womxn who ride for a motorcycle meet up in Salt Lake City by founder Jessica Wise. Fast forward nine years later, and The Litas has grown to encompass more than 26,000 riders in over 330 cities worldwide.

The mission is simple: “to inspire and empower womxn through community and our shared love of motorcycles.”  The collective is a global community of motorcyclists with a focus on the local community, welcoming womxn of all backgrounds, all riding skill levels, all types of motorcycles, and all ages (18 and over.) There is no membership fee and no requirements to join, other than the love of riding motorcycles and a commitment to inclusivity and mutual encouragement.

For the past few years, The Litas have descended upon Portland, Oregon to meetup with other womxn from all over to enjoy a weekend of all things moto at The One Moto Show. This year, members from the surrounding Pacific Northwest are joining Litas from all over the world to bring together the womxn’s moto community.

The Litas Portland, who have been a part of the collective since the very beginning, regularly host monthly rides on the 2nd Saturday of each month– weather permitting. This year at The One Moto, they are hosting a Friday Night Meetup at The White Owl from 6-9PM. All womxn are welcome to join, with the hope that if anyone plans on heading to Flat Out Friday, they have a spot to meet up before or after the races.

On Saturday at the show, all Litas are invited to join Indian Motorcycle at the main stage from 2-3PM for mini-bike races & prizes. In addition, The Litas will gather for a group photo after the races at 3PM.

Whether you currently belong to a Litas branch, or are simply a womxn who rides, you are welcome to join The Litas at any of the weekend’s meetups to learn more about the collective. Hope to see you there!
