The Jim Riswold Award at The One Motorcycle Show 2025

Every year at The One Motorcycle Show, the Builder Awards Ceremony becomes a quiet moment inside all the noise. A place where craft, courage, humor, and raw imagination meet in the same breath....

This year, that moment carried something extra special. The first-ever Jim Riswold Award captured the room. Jim was a mentor to many including Thor, for years shaping his eye, sharpening his instincts, and feeding his sense of play. He showed him how ideas can carry weight without losing their spark, and how art can hold both mischief and meaning. His influence lives in the DNA of The One Show.

James Paul Riswold (1957–2024) built his career in Portland, Oregon and left a creative legacy etched into the Pacific Northwest. His work at Wieden+Kennedy changed modern advertising. He wrote with precision. He delivered ideas with force. He stopped people in their tracks with Honda scooter campaigns featuring Lou Reed, Miles Davis, and Grace Jones. He understood how a single, well-aimed concept could shift culture.

The award reflects Jim's influence by honoring builders who approach their work with intention and a touch of risk. The kind of work that makes people pause. The kind that lands with a smile and a spark of recognition....“Slightly offensive, but thought out and executed perfectly.”

The award is a tribute to Jim’s guidance, the conversations that shaped the early days of the show, and the imprint he left on the community. His humor, his eye, and his generosity of thought continue to inspire the spirit of the show still to this day.

This video is not a finished piece. What you’re watching is an early sketch from a much larger documentary that continues to take shape. This edit was created early on so Jim could see the direction and feel the spirit of what was forming. Since then, the project has only grown... shaped by many voices, stories & hands.
