Thursday Night Motocross, celebrating its remarkable 59th year this Thursday, July 17th, 2025, is a true Portland institution. This uniquely Pacific Northwest event is deeply rooted in family, operating as a family-run establishment that draws generations of families to its thrilling races. The incredible history of Thursday Night Motocross began in the early 1970s, when Duane Wylder and Jim Rockstead envisioned racing under the lights at Portland International Raceway (PIR), creating what has become a landmark staple in the dirt bike community.

As a special bonus to this weeks BIG TIME Anniversary rce, One Moto Cafe is hosting a Vintage Only Bike race class, featuring pre-1990 two-strokes going head-to-head in a smokey, dirt-flying battle! For 59 years, every Thursday during the summer, this event has brought the excitement. It's a testament to their vision and continued family dedication that fans can still experience top-level professional riders and amateur up-and-comers battling it out right in the heart of Portland, all for an accessible admission of just $15.

The One Moto Cafe is sponsoring the Vintage class and will be sorting out trophies for the top riders on old bikes!

Here's how it works:

  • The OMC vintage race classes will have one slow/amateur class and one fast class altogether, with a split gate.

  • The PIR gate fee is $10 per Adult and $5 per kid

  • We will have a sectioned-off Vintage area to display bikes. Find The 1 Moto Van, which makes for a cool vibe and zone for us.

  • Races will be right before the main event, typically around 8:15 PM - 8:45 PM-ish. Every rider gets one practice and one main event.

  • Bike requirements: 1993 or older. Must be considered track-worthy. No death traps, in other words.

General Thursday Night Information:

  • Gates Open: 4 PM - unless indicated otherwise

  • Practice Starts: 5 PM

  • Races Start: 6 PM

  • General Admission: Adults $10 - Kids $5

  • Rider Entry Fees: Amateurs $25 - Pros $30

  • Pros must purchase entry at race tower

  • MXNW Racing License required ($15 / $5 for 1-day)
